Here’s a suggested 7-day independent itinerary that balances nature, culture, and adventure — all at your own pace.
Day 1: Arrival & Reykjavik Highlights
Pick up your 4WD vehicle at Keflavík Airport (essential for weather and roads)
Explore Reykjavik’s landmarks: Hallgrímskirkja Church, Harpa Concert Hall, and Sun Voyager sculpture
Stroll the vibrant Laugavegur shopping street
Consider an evening Northern Lights boat tour from Reykjavik’s harbor
Day 2: The Golden Circle & Relaxing Hot Springs
Visit Thingvellir National Park — walk between tectonic plates and learn Viking history
